December 1788 land patent on vellum signed by Thomas Mifflin (1744-1800) then president of the Supreme Executive Council of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Mifflin served as the 1st governor of Pennsylvania and is regarded as a Founding Father of the United States. Patent signed "Thomas Mifflin" in left margin, granting a parcel of land to Matthew Gillchrist. Attested by Deputy Secretary, James Trimble for Charles Biddle.
