"I was born to two amazing parents who are both Marines. The oldest of 3 children, I grew up traveling the world and have lived in several countries and U.S. states. I’ve been lucky enough to draw inspiration from everywhere I’ve lived: Morocco, Norway, Illinois, Pennsylvania, New York, South Carolina, Virginia & Florida. I have always been a lover of the arts since I was a little girl and blessed to have experienced exciting cultures at a young age! My baby sister was diagnosed with brain cancer at age 9, I was 13 years old at the time and my brother was 12. An extremely difficult time within our family, I often listened to classical music, played piano and sketched to release tension. Art whether it was visual or musical helped to lift my spirits and give me hope. Today I can say my sister is a cancer survivor and I am eternally grateful for her brave example at such a young age. I am a self taught artist & have been painting with purpose for several years. I graduated from Florida A&M University in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Health Care Management and a minor in military science. I searched for many years trying to find my niche and realized I loved to create. I am continually learning & experimenting with new techniques and always challenging myself on this journey. I believe that art like music can change your mood, your thoughts and even your actions. The right piece can lift your spirits, create nostalgia and speak to you in a way that no person can. I create vibrant art because I believe color is one of the greatest gifts that God as our creator has given us. It’s impactful, it’s psychological, it affects each person differently. I specifically want my art to provide energy, warmth, excitement and stimulation when you lay your eyes on it."
Quia currently resides in Tallahassee with her husband and 2 children.
