Framed Civil War flank marker flag. The field, or background, of the flag is composed of red and white cloth pieces sewn together diagonally. A blue cross pattée is sewn at the center.

Flag size: 16.25 x 12.25".
This marker is possibly from V Corps of the Union Army of the Potomac.
Flank markers were held by sergeants placed at both ends of a battle line to help the infantry regiment march in a straight line.
