AJ Brown (American, contemporary) oil on canvas painting, titled "Back Country Fiery Skies," depicting a vibrant sunset over a Florida marsh. Set in a decorative wooden frame.
AJ Brown is a second generation Florida Highwaymen artist. The Florida Highwaymen were a group of African-American artists who began making art in the 1950s, and continued to gain popularity and success over the decades. AJ Brown has studied with James Gibson and Johnny Daniels, two of the first generation Florida Highwaymen. Much like Mary Ann Carroll was the only woman artist in the first generation, AJ Brown is the only woman artist in the second generation.
