An 1918 printed note from King George V on Windsor Castle stationery welcoming United States soldiers to the country. The letters reads: "Soldiers of the United States, the people of the British Isles welcome you on your way to take your stand beside the Armies of many Nations now fighting in the Old World the great battle for human freedom. The Allies will gain new heart and spirit in your company. I wish that I could shake the hand of each one of you and bid you God speed on your mission. George R. I. April 1918." Includes envelope.

The reverse of the letter has a note written by American soldier Charles O. Miller to Mr. W.H. Miller of Paxico, KS. The letter reads: "Some where in England. I arrived here all right. I liked the trip fine. We were 11 days on the water. The water was fine all the way. We sure had lots of [? on the road here. The Red Cross sure are the soldier's friend. I would like to get mail often but I guess there is no use of writing over once every 2 weeks. Char. O. Miller. [Pvt. Co. C. 135th Infantry American E.F."

Condition: Very good with minor foxing to letter. Envelope is discolored.
