Raúl Milian (Cuban, 1914-1986), gouache and ink on paper, titled Flores, dated 1961 and signed Milian in the lower right corner. Milian was self taught and didn't begin his painting career until his 40s. Nevertheless, he became a contributor to the Cuban Modernist movement with his abstract and graphic style. Milian also notably studied under Cuban artist, René Portocarrero (1912-1985).

Provenance: From the collection of Cuban sculptor, Fausto Ramos, who also acted as director at the famed Cuban art institute, "San Alejandro" or Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes, from 1962-1963. Also includes a copy of export documentation from Cuba.
